Learn more at WIE’s introductory webinar, taking place Wednesday, 3/16 at 9AM PT/12PM ET Women in Exhibition (WIE), an international network of professionals working in cinema entertainment, technology, and mixed-used leisure platforms, is proud to announce the WIE Mentorship Program. The WIE Mentorship Program (WMP) creates a platform where women in the global cinema industry can use their expertise and experience to empower other female professionals in different stages of their careers. The program will have its official introduction in an informational webinar and Q&A session with WIE’s Heather Blair and Mariam El Bacha, taking place on Wednesday, March 16 at 9AM PT/12PM ET. Registration is now open here. Applications to become mentees and mentors are now open; the deadline to apply is March 30. Mentees chosen to participate in this inaugural edition of the WIE Mentorship Program will be paired with an expert in their chosen area of the industry to provide one-on-one career advice, assistance, and camaraderie, affirming and bolstering WIE’s ultimate goal of supporting and empowering a community of female professionals. By elevating women to feel confident in their decision-making process, WMP will open new doors of opportunity to participants as they advance in their careers. Our mentees will be given the opportunity to share experiences and receive guidance from top-notch WIE professionals—veteran industry executives hailing from a variety of markets and different corners of the cinema industry—over the course of one year. They will be assisted in developing new skills, learn how to “lean in” to increase their visibility, and be supported in accelerating their professional and personal pursuits. For the mentors, the WMP provides a chance to pay it forward and to stimulate collaboration and change in a rapidly changing industry that is thirsty for diversification, innovation, and equality. “WIE values the spirit of collaboration, inspiration, growth and empowerment,” says El Bacha, former CEO of Pakistan’s leading cinema circuit, Cinepax. “By opening the playing field to a world of new opportunities, the goal is to promote leadership qualities that will accelerate a global community of women professionals.” A celebratory event introducing the inaugural participants at the program will be held at this year’s CinemaCon, sponsored by The Boxoffice Company and with a date and time to be determined. Sign up for WIE’s newsletter at womeninexhibition.com to be alerted when RSVPs are open.
